Guest Speaker for February 10, 2009

                                 David McKay of Smith Barney

David McKay, a new member of SDTC, will be out guest speaker for the February luncheon.

He is a Financial Advisor & Guided Portfolio Manager for Smith Barney.


 

He will be speaking on “Selecting the appropriate retirement plan” and looking at 401(k), simple IRAs and other options for business owners.

 

 

 

 

                                                                            

 

February 10, 2098 Installation of 2009-2010 Officers and Board of Directors

  The installation will be conducted by members of the TCI from the Houston area at a luncheon on February 10, 2009 at 11:30 am at the Cattle Company.  Come out & show your support for your new leaders!

Congratulations to this new group of leaders for the ensuing year. However, there are plans in the works to ask several other members to serve on committees for the new year. Two Lamar students chosen for SDTC annual scholarship awards. Stormie Guidry and Bran Schlabs were chosen by Dr. Kabir Sen, Department head of Marketing for Lamar University.

 

These two students are going to college full time while working full time jobs as well.  Both students will be graduating in the next year.

 

Also recognized was Lacy & Logan Theriot, Casey Cole and Ashley Landry the current recipients of the dependent scholarships awarded in August 2008.

 

Many thanks to all our members who have participated in the monthly fund raisers in order for SDTC to be able to continued to award scholarships!

Greg is fondly recognized as “Mr. Hurricane”.  Being from High Island he is no stranger to threatening weather conditions.  However, in his tenure thus far there have been 4 named hurricanes in the past 3 years.   Greg also served for 20 years as a deputy sheriff with Jefferson County prior to being named EMC.

 

He did mention that the Hologram program is not working as it was designed.  So far it is still under suspension.

Board Meeting Announcements:
There will be a Board of Director’s meeting on February 10, 2009 at 11 am.
 

Time is running short to obtain TWIC Cards. The TWIC Centers have extended hours in order to process the requests.
