Many thanks to Ernest Bezdeck from the Port of Beaumont for being our guest speaker for the March luncheon.  The Port of Beaumont is expanding!  What great news for our area.

The web site for the Port of Beaumont is:

www.portofbeaumont.com

The focus was on the 450 acres that are being developed by the Port in Orange County.  The pipe line expansion from the LNG plant will go to this island for exporting onto to ships within the expanded port facility.  Along with this, the Port of Beaumont was recently awarded a $17 million dollar contract for building a dock on this acreage.

Currently the majority of the commodities being handled are iron & steel products.  The US military is building a command center in the Port.  This is expected to be a 10 year contract.

The rail expansion on the Jefferson County side is expected to increase the handling of cars from 800 to 1200 once it is completed.

The Port has increased the amount of cargo going through the port over the last few years and continues to grow with the expansion on the island in Orange County which should be operational in 2008.

Bill Clark Pest Control recently celebrated 50 years in business on December 27, 2007. These folks celebrated this event with a Greater Beaumont Business After Hours on 2-26-08. Approximately 250-300 people were in attendance when Bill Clark generously donated $18,250 which was distributed throughout 18 local charities. This donation represented $1/day for every day that he has been in business for the past 50 years. Congratulations!
