842nd Military Cargo Transport makes Port of Beaumont No.1 in the transportation or Military Cargo |
||||
|
The 842nd Military Cargo Transport Battalion transports military equipment to & from Iraq and Afghanistan.
Lt. Cmdr James Walter & Lt. Cmdr Adams were our guest speakers for the September 11, 2007 luncheon.
During the presentation, they shared with us a special designed tank base to assist in the transportation for large size tanks over the rail instead of having to use trucking with special permits for hauling to the port facilities.
Also, the Port of Beaumont is now considered the nations #1 Port for the transportation of military cargo.
The military cargo is rotated in/out of Iraq and Afghanistan periodically as the equipment begins to need repair/re-furbishing. This deployment is also being handled from the Port of Beaumont.
Many thanks to these gentlemen for their time spent for this presentation!

Once rail improvements are made at the Port of Beaumont, the military will be able to increase the number of railcars used at the port from 360 to 740. | ||
| TCI Conference September 13-16, 2007 | ||||
|
Congratulations to our new President, Mac Leonard for TCI, and Dennis Tam, now TCI Chairman of the Board!
Most of us met Dennis during his 3 year tenure as TCI President. What a great leader! He was awesome at our annual Christmas Party each year & brought lots of fun with him when he came.
He always had a listening ear & a caring heart for the smallest to the largest traffic clubs. It is always a joy to see him when he attended our meetings.
